The standby time of a mobile phone like this is always a bit of a downer. Due to the functionalities, especially with a constant Internet connection, the standby time is drastically shortened. According to the specifications, the included 3.7V 1200mAh Lithium Ion battery type BL4D is able to reach a maximum standby time of 320 hours, and a maximum of 7 hours talk time. In practice, however, it slightly disappoints. For example, the Nokia N97 Mini only lasts for a day and a half when emailing and making some calls. In case the phone is heavily used, it will need recharging within one day.

The Nokia N97 Mini features 8GB of internal memory. Compared to the original Nokia N97, this memory is rightfully called Mini, while the original version has up to 32GB of internal memory. Those who find 8GB simply not enough, can expand the memory via a microSD / SDHC flash memory card. The Nokia N97 Mini supports these memory cards to a maximum capacity of 16GB. This way, a maximum of 24GB is created for the user to be able to store all desired content.

Previously, we have already mentioned the prominent place of OVI in the main menu. OVI is something very important to Nokia, and is expected to enhance the number of applications in the near future. For now, it is mostly fun as a substitute for the App Store and similar application stores. The OVI Store has nice games, applications and funny gadgets available for download, both free as well as for a fee. The size of the OVI-store is expanding by the day, however, there is still significantly less available than for example in the App Store. Yet there are gradually more similarities when it comes to applications, which makes us curious as to what the future will bring us in terms of these kinds of market places on mobile phones.

The Nokia N97 Mini can only fully be used if it is purchased in combination with an internet bundle, since it has several Widgets that standard use Internet, and many other applications that require an Internet connection. The web browser of the Symbian software is easy to use for displaying Internet pages. Even flash websites are rendered without a problem. It is undoubtedly the combination of a touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard that really enhances the user-friendliness. The latter is best experienced when emailing. Since the full keyboard has a considerable size, typing a long email message is easy.

he integrated GPS antenna of the Nokia N97 Mini can be used in combination with the Nokia Maps / OVI-maps application that is installed by default. The license specified for full navigation is valid for 10 days. Should you decide within these 10 days to renew the license; this is possible via the phone. There are different licenses for sale; for example a one-day license for  Ђ\ 1.80. Without the license, the OVI-use maps can be used as a city map. Thanks to the GPS system, there is no need to search for street names in order to find out where you are. Besides navigation, GPS can also be used to link a location to a captured picture, which is known as geo-tagging. It will give you the opportunity to see afterwards where the pictures were taken.
